CD REVIEW: Pus Vomit (Philippines) - "Stoned to Death" EP, by Andrew Sick of Sick Reviews

Pus Vomit - Stoned to Death (Berdugo Records)

After five f***ing years of shitty silence, The Filipinos Pus Vomit are back with a new EP entitled "
Stoned to Death" and still perform a Slamming Brutal Death F***ing Metal with Old School BDM influences! Since their f***ing excellent debut album "Degrade the Worthless" Pus Vomit are now with a new vocalist and the band consist now Benji (Vocals), Loui
e (Guitars) and Ryan (Drums)! This EP hold a totally f***ing killer production, it really sounds like a bomb of f***ing shit and the sound of guitars, drums... is still very good including also a f***ing good mixing! "Stoned to Death" with its 20 minutes and 5 songs (6 with the hidden track) is musically very damn good with lots of f***ing good riffs, unfortunately we can also find some very bad and f***ing boring but still f***ing well diluted among the best parts or songs! The drums is f***ing excellent and Benji as new vocals has filled his role very well with a diversified vocals despite some sounding a bit f***ing weak and unnecessary! Despite its negative points, this is a f***ing good disk and flows generally f***ing well but for my part, I expected much more from them after all this time and loosing some of their brutality and unique style! "Stoned to Death" is worth seeing of each brutaller but especially for slammers with its f***ing heavy atmosphere! Good F***ing Shit! 6\10 [Jack Frost note: This review was first published by Andrew Sick of Sick Reviews and is used here with his kind consent.]

CD REVIEW: Down from the Wound (Phils) - "Violence and the Macabre", by Andrew Sick of Sick Reviews

DOWN FROM THE WOUND - Violence and the Macabre (Comatose Music)

After 7 f***ing years, "Down from the Wound" is doing a f***ing amazing comeback with their second full length album with a title engraved in brutality "Violence and the Macabre"! Having added a member in their Filipinos f***ing slaughter band, Down from the Wound is now Tristan Dela Cruz on Vocals, Jeffrey Companero and Chie Merigildo on Guitars, Randyl Manglicmot on Drums and the quartet give us a totally f***ing destructive performance tinged with a brutalistic ingenuity influenced by bands like Disgorge (USA) and Suffocation! Tristan with his f***ing excellent guttural vocals that we never get bored, the brutal f***ing job of Jeff and Chie on guitars is f***ing wonderful with a near-perfect composition and finally, Randy drumming as always in a totally f***ing sick way with a shitty bunch of barbaric tempos f***ing greatly achieved! A strong and f***ing perfect production is adding to the damn quality of this shitty disk, f***ing great mixing with a enjoyable and brutal heavy f***ing sound! With 10 songs (plus one instrumental) and its 48 f***ing minutes, "Violence and the Macabre" is f***ing perfect in almost all levels and the only negative comment would be some riffs less enjoyable and a couple of songs a little less good but still f***ing amazing! This f***ing piece of shit is f***ing essential to all brutal f***ers because Down from the Wound just proved their high rank in the Brutal Death F***ing Metal! A f***ing must! F***ing Great Piece of F***ing Shit! 9/10. [Jack Frost note: This review was first published by Andrew Sick of Sick Reviews and is used here with his kind consent. Long live consenting adults hahahaha!]

REVIEW: Review of HUMAN MASTICATION "Driven to Kill" (Pathologically Explicit Recordings), By Andrew Sick, Sick Reviews

Human Mastication-Driven to Kill (Pathologically Explicit Recordings), by Andrew Sick, Sick Reviews

"Driven to Kill" is the f***ing long awaited second full album of the Filipinos Human Mastication and is for fans of Brutal Death F***ing Metal in general, but especially for those who enjoy the Sick Brutal Death with f***ing fast riffs and intense drum parts, nothing of technical, all about the brutality in its rawest form! Human Mastication is composed of Gee with his faithful guttural vocals, Jay with his completely sick riffs of Guitars, Dexter on Bass also doing a really f***ing insane job and Kano on Drums who, as usual, gives us a performance totally f***ing killer! Compared to their first record, it has no or very rarely Slamming or Groovy riffs and is really a CD with a higher level of f***ing extreme brutality, to my ears, than all that they have done before! Almost all riffs are f***ing killer and catchy as f**k but some of them seem a little bit redundant with the Drums and Vocals but nothing of major and that f***ing shit never bored us! ''Driven to Kill'' contains 10 songs, one intro, one instrumental, two songs from their previous EP and Split and six f***ing great new songs that were worth waiting for this amazing bomb of shit! The entire production is f***ing perfect, sound and mixing are greatly well done with no shiny or polished sound and making it a pure f***ing piece of Brutal Death Metal! You need to get this f***ing disk just for the high level of sickness found in this absolutely f***ing awesome shit! Killer F***ing Release! 9.5/10

HUMAN MASTICATION will appear at Manila Death Fest in support of DISGORGE.

INTERVIEW: My interview with Jap (vocalist) of NEKROHOLOCAUST (Philippines brutal death-metal)

My interview with Jap (vocalist) of NEKROHOLOCAUST (Philippines brutal death-metal)
By Dr Kieran James (University of Southern Queensland)

The brutal Filipino death band NEKROHOLOCAUST - Coming to a MacDonald's Family Restaurant in your city! Please don't take their favourite table by the window!!
 Email Interview, 16 February 2011
NEKROHOLOCAUST is: Bert on guitar, Frans on drums, Jap on vocals

Kieran James: Hi, mate. Thanks very much for agree to do interview with our website www.busukwebzine666.blogspot.com. These are the questions:

Jap NEKROHOLOCAUST: Hey bro, Sorry for the very late reply on this interview, because I have been busy last few days, by the way here it is. I hope you enjoy reading... by the way can you give me a link if you blog this zine on your blogspot, sites etc? Thanks a lot!! –Jap.

KJ: Haha, yes, of course, we will give you a link because we want to promote your band and also this website too. First tell us the band history, like when you start and who are the members?

Jap: This band was founded and started playing in the years 2003-2004. Current members: Bert on guitar, Frans on drums, me [Jap] on vocals, and we are adding additional guitarist and bass guitarist later.

KJ: I see from the great website metal-archives.com you had a split album 2010 and demo 2011. What was the style of the music and what response have you had to these albums?

Jap: The record [sound] on both of the albums [is] straight up raw and dirty. It’s like a clan of beasts that [is] doing an orgy noise from your speakers coming to your ears utilizing your shit out there!!! hahaha! The response [to those] two albums are just normal. I think. It depends on [each] listener [as to what is her or his] opinion and we don’t need it. HA!!

KJ: Have you got plans for a full-length coming?

Jap: Yeah!! We are currently recording our promo (2012) CD from a good studio out here. Expect good quality recorded songs on this one! And, maybe after that promo we will unleash our first debut full length album with a good label hopefully!

KJ: What are your main music influences?

Jap: We dig all kinds of music, we have [our] own personal music that we dig. But our main and primary priority for our band is Brutal Death Grind straight fucking up!! We are more influenced [by] US death-metal bands, like Disgorge US, Suffocation, Devourment etc.....

KJ: I'm Aussie but most of our readers are Indonesians, I share the site with John Yoedi from Balikpapan. Can you tell us more about the metal scene in the Philippines?

Jap: It’s getting bigger and bigger!!! Gladly!

KJ: What are some good death-metal bands there in your country? The only bands I know of are Deiphago from your country and of course Human Mastication who we interviewed here.

Jap: Check out: Pus Vomit, Loss of Control, Down from the Wound!!!

KJ: You know Indonesia metal is huge these days like Bandung is death-metal city, Surabaya has black and power metal, Jakarta has thrash and Yogya has its own varied death scene. Is it like that in Phillipines where one city is strong in DM, another in BM etc?

Jap: All the cities and regions out here have different kind of music. You cannot say, for example: all the people on that city or region are just digging one genre of music. All the people out here are digging different kind of genres. Luzon, Visayas, [through] to Mindanao have different kind of music! It depends! But I think death-metal [is] the biggest scene right here right now!! [KJ: Great!]

KJ: What is the attitude of the religious people and the police towards metal shows and metal bands there?

Jap: You cannot see any cops out here if there’s a metal show or underground event. The productions can handle the whole show without paying any cops out here. And about the religion, I don't give a fuck either because I’m an Atheist! Hahaha!

KJ: What are your goals and plans for your band?

Jap: To release more brutal and sick records, play more gigs, to obtain genocide through our music!! And of course to offend people through our music!! Joke! ahahahaha!!

KJ: Have you got any favorite Indonesian bands?

Jap: I dig Jasad and Asphyxiate! [KJ: Someone is going to translate that Asphyxiate interview on our site into English just for you, my friend...and for me too of course].

KJ: Any plans or hopes to tour Indonesia and/or to tour Australia?

Jap: Hopefully, if there’s any production or promotion that can book us to go and play out there.. why not...if they can just handle our plane tickets, food, and simple accommodation...that will be a great deal for us...hehehe...because, the financial stuff is just the main problem on our band, enough said.

KJ: Last one: Any message or word for your fans?

Jap: “First of all I would to thank you Kieran James for the interest of having a killer interview with us! Many thanks to all the staff of Busuk Webzine!!! [KJ: Yes now we have around 300 staff running it hehehe! We are going to rent a floor in a big office tower in downtown Singapore!!]  And, to all the Indonesian readers and all the readers around hope to see you all in the future!!! Tetap fucking sakit dan brutal!!!”

KJ: Thanks very much for the interview and we hope to spread unity and brotherhood among metalheads in this SE Asia region.

INTERVIEW: DISCREATE (Technical Brutal Death from Philippines ) Interview

DISCREATE is a technical brutal death metal band from the Philippines founded recently in November 2010, when guitarist Michael Carlos (ex-Burial Disorder, Sultan) decided to continue writing his own songs after parting ways with Burial Disorder. With the help of Miko Pareja (ex-Monkey Eating Flesh, Burial Disorder) on vocals, they remain absolute in what they have started out with.

Seeing a huge possibility of breaking conventional metal music, Em Lozano (ex-Los Sin Nombre vocalist, former drummer of Burial Disorder (session), Goremitory & Innocent Suffer, current drummer of Flashpoint) decided to continue drumming for them permanently - helping to engineer ideational music structures and explore potential abstract conjunctions.

Discreate has recently added Mike Emberador of Fvck Belias as their second guitarist and is currently rehearsing with them for their new songs"

INTERVIEW: Human Mastication Interview (Davao City, Philippines)

John Yoedi (BUSUK WEBZINE) : Hi Gee. How things going with Human Mastication? Thanks for talking to me.  And firstly congratulations on the new album ‘Persecute To Bloodbath’.  I’ve read some great/positive reviews about your new album. So I guess, you guys must be really pleased with the response you’ve had?

Gee (HUMAN MASTICATION): Hey bro.. First of all, thanks a lot for your time, effort and interest doing this interview with Human Mastication. It’s an honor for us to be featured in this webzine. We’re glad that our new EP “Persecute To Bloodbath” catch positive response. Huge thanks to all who dig it!

JY : To start off, let’s talk with boring question as warming up hahaha. Would you like to introduce us to the members of the band and also tell us about how’s Human Mastication got started?

Gee : I forgot already how we started. It’s a very long story and I can’t remember it now... We’ll the current Human Mastication Line up: Jay – Guitars, Siloy – Bass, Gee – Vocals and Kano – Drums

JY : I want to say, if I really love your new album ‘Persecute To Bloodbath’ and it’s f***in awesome. I’ve been banging my head and playing air drums to it like a fuckin complete idiot lol but two thumbs up for your new album.  Well, I wondered… in musically for this album, sound very influenced by US Death Metal and in particular Disgorge (US), in their album ‘Consume The Forsaken’, Is that right? And could you say something about this?

Gee : Thanks a lot for your kind words about the EP bro... Disgorge (USA) is one of our main influences.. Killer band! We really admire their music.

JY : And where did you got inspiration? Who has created/idea behind this new album ‘Persecute To Bloodbath?

Gee : I wrote all those lyrics and inspired with serial killer movies/documentaries, porn and horror gore perversion movies etc.

JY : Are you satisfied with your new album material or are there certain things you would like to have changed?

Gee : Not really. Yes the sound production and drums.

JY : Would you like to tell us about recording process for the new album? How long did the process take?

Gee : The recording process of the new EP is very simple. We recorded those tracks for just 2 to 3 hours I think.

JY : Who came up with the sickness album cover art concept?

Gee : I discuss with Bin of Braindrained Art about the output/concept of the artwork. And the result is perfect. That is what we want…

JY : And how come it has taken so long, nearly three years since the previous album ‘Grosteque Mastication Of Putrid Innards’?

Gee : Yes, because we change a drummer that time after the debut album released. It takes time for him the new drummer to adjust and cover the songs from debut album for our upcoming shows, then after that we start writing new songs with him. And honestly we don’t know if he is very busy because it’s really hard to get in touch with him so it’s very difficult for us to have a rehearsal, that’s why we are fucking lazy and slow! But anyway, we have a fresh drummer right now... I hope everything will be smooth and the progress is good. Goodluck for us hehehe..

JY : Are you recording in the same studio as before?

Gee : Nope, the debut album and the new EP recorded in different studios.

JY : How did the deal with Sevared Records come about? Are you satisfied with things like promotion and etc?

Gee : Sevared Records is one of the best underground brutal death metal labels these days for us, loads of killer brutal death bands, giving great support and promotions worldwide. We are satisfied what Sevared Records offered us.

JY : What kind of label would you consider signing with? Did you have many labels interested in your country?

Gee : Any labels as long as they are interested in Human Mastication giving us a good support, promotions and suitable deal. Yes, we have few bands here in our country get signed by international labels and released their albums, so it looks that there are lot of labels and death metal supporters globally are interested in Philippine death metal scene. Big thanks to all of them! Cheers…

JY : Where do you hear the biggest progression musically compared to past material?

Gee : Today our songs are faster, added more complex and diversity compared to the previous one. Just my poor opinion...

JY : How would you in your own words to describe your music?

Gee : Simple, Brutal, Crap and Shit! hahaha!

JY : And do you think lyrics are serious element of music? Because having vocals with no words that no one can understand.  So what are the main themes you write about?

Gee : Yes, lyrics are pretty important for me and I’m using/reading lyrics when I do gutturals. Our lyrics are all about killings and sex perversion inspired by horror, gore, porn movies…

JY : How do you manage to adapt or improve to things and get the job done in the band?

Gee : Dedication and passion…

JY : In your new album, I’ve seen cover song from Disgorge (US) with title ‘Womb Full Of Scabs’. And I know another Brutal Death Metal Bands did it too. So I think Disgorge is fuckin killer band in this world and lots of death freaks love this band (I know… you’re Disgorge fans bro hehehe).   And maybe you ever heard about their new news, its about their fifth full length album ‘And the Weak Shall Perish’ also with two new member Erik Lindmark (Guitars) and Derek Boyer (Bass).  Well my question, Whats your opinion about their new album? Is it will be getting fast and more brutal like previous album or? Also what do you think about two new member come in?

Gee : Honestly I still don’t have any idea about it, but hopefully the new line-up continue what Disgorge sound/trademark for their past albums. The two new members are really great musicians so we’ll just wait the output of their new album. Can’t wait for it!

JY : Tell us about equipments/kits do you use to record and do you the same amp/guitars and etc for live shows?

Gee : Jay and Bill are just using Ibanez Gio guitar/bass. In our rehearsal studio we use Marshall and ADI amplifiers and Sonor drums. If we play live we don’t bring amplifiers because it’s very heavy and hard to carry it except for cymbals and stands.. We just depend what amps are presented on stage...

JY : You are obviously all very proficient with your instruments – what sort of musical backgrounds do you have? Have you had any formal musical training or education? And when did you first love death metal?

Gee : We don’t have any musical training or education. I already forgot when I first time to hear death metal music.

JY : Would you like to tell us briefly about Death metal scene in Philippines and especially in Davao city?

Gee : Death Metal scene here in Davao is pretty okay and increasing… We have lot of new bands in the scene. We have killer bands like Perverse Molestation, Erectile Dysfunction, Disastrous, Lamaw etc.. And for Luzon area they have Pus Vomit, Down From The Wound, Guillotined, Anal Fissure, Discreate and more…

JY : We heard a lot about political troubles in Davao. Are there any problems playing metal there? Kieran, will be going to there to do interview for his book, extend it to Philippines.

Gee :So far we don’t have any problems here in Davao for metal shows/gigs. Everything is pretty good.

JY : What are your own plans at the moment with Human Mastication? Any plans of playing live and to do tour to Indonesia?

Gee : Keep writing new songs for next release... If we have a chance to play there in Indonesia it would be awesome. One of our dreams as a band to play outside the country…

JY : Anyway, before to conclude this interview, would you like to give us… Whats your current 6 brutal death metal new albums list?

Gee : Cerebral Effusion - Impulsive Psychopathic Acts
Putridity - Degenerating Anthropophagical Euphoria
Septycal Gorge - Erase the Insignificant
Condemned - Realms Of The Ungodly
Defeated Sanity - Chapters Of Repugnance
Visceral Disgorge - Ingesting Putridity

JY : Thanks for your kind support to do this interview. Do you have last words?

Gee : Thanks a lot for this cool interview and support bro… All the best with your zine... Keep in touch… Visit Human Mastication @ www.myspace.com/humanmastication /www.facebook.com/humanmasticationofficial
