My Interview with Corey Athos, Vocalist from Blackened Death Metal Band from Florida, CA, USA - GOAT WITH A THOUSAND YOUNG

Hi bro welcome again on a spot on Busuk Webzine. Now you are in a new band now called Goats With A Thousand Young. Who came up with the band? Can you tell us who else is in the band and what part do they play?

First off I want to thank you Michael for the interview. It's much appreciated. Goat with a thousand young stems from the necronomicon, shub-niggurath, which means Black goat in the forest with a thousand young. Andrew is the bassist and primary song writer, Carlos is the lead guitarist, Tim is the second guitarist, Juan is the session drummer, and I am the vocalist/lyricist.

So how do you have time with this band and others. Is that right you are in 10 other bands or is that a rumour?

Yes I am in 10 different bands. I work on two at a time besides goat with a thousand young and flesh consumed. Those I work year around. Whatever your passion is you make time for it regardless if it's 5 min or 5 hours. The passion drives you!

Can you name all the bands you are in lol?

Fuck. Haha here we go.. Flesh consumed, goat..,hydrocephalic, slave to the underworld, ominous gatekeeper, endless misery, torturous, funeral rust, abyss.

Thanks bro, are you the vocalist in every band?

No, I play guitar, bass, program drums, and the songwriter for many of the bands as well as vocals of course.

Awesome bro so tell me about this split album Goat with a thousand young you are releasing with. When will the split be out for everyone to listen to?

Well the split is with an amazing band out of Houston, Texas named Uncleansed. It will be released on Ossuary Industries in which I've had the pleasure of working with Brian before. We are unsure of the release date at this moment but we are hitting the studio July 11th, so I'd say early September.

Tell me how do you write your lyrics? Do you have a brainstorm or you just doing something and or of a sudden something come into your head and say oh l must write this down.

I have a very creative, loose imagination so I sit down with a pad and paper until a theme pops in my head, usually takes about 15 min, some times immediately, sometimes in the car, etc. I write a lot of concept Lp and Eps, like the Goat With a Thousand Young split is actually concept EP. I am heavily inspired by HP Lovecraft, POE, and Clive Barker and also write short stories and poetry.

So how many songs will be on this split cd with Uncleansed?

Four songs and a possible intro and interlude, unsure of that yet.

Has Goat with a thousand youngs being doing shows in your area?

We are actually focusing on the Split at the moment, then working on a full length, by then we will have enough songs to perform shows, festivals, and tours.

Well make sure you book a spot over here in Australia and Indonesia try Soundwave here in Australia and Hammersonic in indonesia you know john would love to see you play in Indonesia one day.

Oh yeah, we would absolutely love to play and hang out with our friends in Indonesia. We love the bands, artists, zines, and fans that's come out of that country. Flesh Consumed was the last interview John RIP did and I wish I could have met him face to face. He was a good friend and insane influence on the death metal community.

Yes the last interview he published in Busuk Webzine which it is in his biography.

Oh wow, that's truly an honor to be in the same pages as John Yoedi.

What is the last cd you bought?

Bleeding Corpse - Condemned to Suffer.

Actually it was given to me by my friend Carl along with our friends DIgging Up.

Well that is good that you and Carl are still supporting bands. These days people are downloading for free these days.

I never download, I think the last time I downloaded music was skinless in 1999. I only buy music.

That is good. Well these days l just buy my music on iTunes.

Either way works.

Anyhow does Goats of a thousand young got any t-shirts produced yet? If not when will we be able to wear them and where can we buy them when they do come out?

We are actually printing four designs, posters and stickers with my friend Pur at Darkpath and possibly a shirt for the split with our friend Amy.

Awesome well let me know so I can get one.

Of course, my brother!

So are all the songs for the split cd ready to go.

The music is pretty much 100% written and the lyrics have been done for a couple months. We finish drums in the studio July 11th.

Now would you like to say anything bro to the readers out there?

I would like to thank you for one Michael for the killer interview and friendship. John Yoedi RIP without him this would not be possible, all my band mates, labels, Dee(artist), Pur, GF, friends, family, and especially the fans in Indonesia and other parts of the globe, and everyone forgotten.

INTERVIEW: My interview with GORE INSTINCT (Kopo, South Bandung death-metal)

Bandung Death Metal City
Kieran James1: Hai, bisakah kamu menceritakan sejarah awal terbentuknya band kalian hingga sekarang?

KJ4: Apa rencana kedepan kalian bersama band?

KJ7: Mengapa kalian semua suka memainkan musik death-metal?
GI7: kita suka memainkan musik death metal karena death metal mempunyai keunikannya masing masing seperti tekhnik vokalnya, tekhik guitarnya, hingga tekhnik drumnya yang unik yang belum pernah kita temui di jenis musik lain.

KJ8: Kapan pertama kali kamu menjadi fans band metal?

GI9: kenapa kamu suka memainkan musik berat?

PROUD!

TRIBUTE: Rest in Peace, Mary Jane Kelly, 5th victim of Jack the Ripper, 9 November 1888

This is Duval Street (formerly Dorset Street) in East London, England today. The murder occurred around where the buildings start just between the second and third garage door on the right. At the time of the murder the street was about 7 metres further back than it is today. The building with the garage doors was constructed in 1929 as an extension to Spitalfields Market. The only old building visible here (at centre of the picture) was a women's night refuge in 1888 and is now part of the University of London. If you had been looking out of those windows in the early morning of 9 November 1888 you might have seen a murderer rushing silently out of Miller's Court and into the pages of history.

Mary's room from Miller's Court
At 10.45am on the morning of 9 November 1888, the retired Indian army officer Thomas Bowyer looked through the window of the tiny backroom of 13 Miller's Court which was actually the back room of 26 Dorset Street (now Duval Street), East London. He was there to collect outstanding rent from the 26-year-old Irish prostitute Mary Jane Kelly on behalf of the landlord John McCarthy who ran the chandler's (provision shop) next door to the front entry of Number 26. Next to 26 Dorset Street there was a narrow passageway around 7 metres long and 0.9 metres wide which opened up into a courtyard called Miller's Court. Mary Jane Kelly's bedroom door was the last door of Number 26 entering on to the passageway. Her two bedroom windows faced to the back and looked out over the courtyard. Thomas Bowyer got the shock of his life to see the mutilated body of Mary cut up with pieces on the bed and placed in various other locations around the room. Most of what we know about Mary came from her ex-lover Joseph Barnett who separated from her only about a week before the murder. It has been impossible to trace Mary through existing records and her relatives never came to the funeral. Barnett said that she was married very young to a miner in Wales called Davies or Davis who was killed in a mine accident. She then moved to Cardiff with a cousin before drifting to the West End of London and later to the East End. If the story is true she would have arrived in London around 1884. She is widely believed to have been the fifth victim of Jack the Ripper, whose last killings (Elizabeth Stride and Catharine Eddowes) were on 30 September 1888. Jack was never caught and his real name was never known.

Miller's Court passageway
One interesting fact about the murder of Mary is that Mrs Caroline Maxwell and Maurice Lewis both claimed to see Mary alive and well between 8.30am and 10.15am. In Mrs Maxwell's case she even claimed to talk to Mary who complained to her about being "the worst for drink" and pointed to some vomit on the sidewalk. However, this testimony remains a mystery as the doctors believed Mary to have been killed around 2am to 8am. In the movie "From Hell" (2001), starring Johnny Depp and Heather Graham, Mary is not killed and instead she escapes to Ireland and lives in a house by the sea, a great escape from the poverty and depression of the East End of London. This story is not impossible as Mary's body was so mutilated that Barnett may have been wrong and it might have been another woman killed in her place as it was known that she allowed other prostitutes to share her room. Mary came to the big city full of hopes and dreams but in the end the city killed her. To an Irish beauty who died far from home in a grimy room in East London (or maybe not), this is our tribute to you [by Jack Frost].
The Ten Bells Pub on the corner of Commercial Street and Fournier Street (now Church Street), Spitalfields, which was a favourite haunt of Mary Jane Kelly. The pub still functions today under the same name. This picture was taken in 2001.
This is a famous picture of the most dangerous street in London, Dorset Street, which appears in Jack London's 1902 book The People of the Abyss.
